Here you can take a look at our lecturers that will take part in this year Colloquium.

CHRISTIAN ALBRECHT, Asfinag (A)
graduated at the »school for higher technical education – civil engineering« in Villach, Carinthia. Over time he collected experience by acting on behalf civil engineers, building companies and principals.
At present he is working for the „department of building trade and procurement“ of ASFiNAG construction management GmbH as specialist for building trade issues as soon as his focus is on the subjects innovation and sustainability at the procurement of construction services and as a consequence thereof the progression of the best bidder concept.
Among these forms the accompaniment of the procurement prozess of negotiated procedures for complicated construction projects is counting to his assignment.

REINHARD LOHMANN-PICHLER
Civil engineer; Several years of activity in the construction industry as a site manager and group manager in motorway construction projects in Austria and abroad; since 2013 at ASFINAG Baumanagement GmbH as an expert in road construction and road superstructure working on guideline work, consulting on construction projects and supervision of research projects.

ROMAN BAŠELJ, Igmat (SLO)
From 1994 to 2000 he was employed by Cestno podjetje Kranj d.d. where he conducted laboratory tests for the needs of the construction profession. Since 2000 he has been employed at Igmat. Until 2003, he was employed as a technologist in an asphalt laboratory (asphalt, protection of bridging structures, waterproofing). He performed internal quality control work for various contractors, mainly in the form of cooperation with the operative, as well as he has been and still is a part of the external contracting authority, quality controls for DARS and DRSI. In 2012, he took on the Head of IGM (bitumen, waterproofing, epoxy industrial flooring, individual chemical investigations of building materials). Since 2004, he has been working with representatives of contracting authorities abroad (Austria, Italy, Montenegro, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Kosovo).

MARCO BOKIES, DAV (D)
He is a lawyer by law, studied business law / tax law including antitrust law, and from 2005 to 2010 was the director of the regional association of the building materials industry, Duisburg, until 2010 he was the executive director at the Federal Concrete Industry Association and at the Federal Industry Association sand and gravel, Duisburg. Since 2016, he is the director of the German Asphalt Association, DAV, Bonn.

ZVONKO COTIČ, Structum,
Karmen Čibej,
Irena Fortuna and
Matic Poznič, (SLO)

Zvonko Cotič completed his studies at the Faculty of Civil Engineering in Maribor and obtained the title of Bachelor of Civil Engineering. In 2004, he was employed at Primorje, where he managed the quality control of the Primorje Group. Since 2012 he has been working at STRUCTUM, Institute of Civil Engineering, Ltd. as Director of Research and Development. Throughout his career, he has been developing materials and technologies in the construction industry, especially asphalt and concrete, with a focus on sustainable development. In Slovenia, it is one of the pioneers of the introduction of road recycling technologies, the use of black steel slag and waste tires in asphalt mixtures. He is actively involved in the preparation of Slovenian standards and is a member of several technical committees and associations.

MARTIN FLIEGL, Fliegl GmbH (D)
Is head of Research and Development with a focus on asphalt building at the company Fliegl, he has participate in various research projects in the field of asphalt construction in Europe, Japan etc. and in many conferences and meetings throughout Europe. By visiting constructions sites mainly in asphalt road construction he is witnessing PRACTICAL problems live and trying to create solutions for process reliability with this knowledge.

DEJAN HRIBAR, Strabag (SLO)
After his postgraduate studies at UL FGG, in 2006 he got a job at ZRMK Civil Engineering Institute d.o.o. Ljubljana as Head of the Road and Infrastructure Center. In 2014, he defended his doctoral dissertation, the program Built Environment, the scientific field of Civil Engineering. He was involved in the investigation of asphalt mixtures at low temperatures in the road construction laboratory at TU Vienna. Since 2014 he has been employed at STRABAG d.o.o, Ljubljana, TPA service department, as the Technical Manager of the Quality and Innovation Department at the laboratory there. He is a member of various associations in the field of construction ZAS, IZS, DIGIT, ZBS and SGD.

MITJA JURGELE, DRI (SLO)
Mitja Jurgele completed his undergraduate and master studies at the Faculty of Civil Engineering and Geodesy of the University of Ljubljana. He has been employed as Professional Consultant at DRI Investment Management ltd. since 2010. His main activities are development of Infrastructure management tools, organisation and monitoring of quality control programs for infrastructure investments and pavement design and monitoring. He is a co-author of the book Asphalt2.

CARSTEN KARCHER, EAPA (B)
Graduated from the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT) in Germany the former University of Karlsruhe as a civil engineer. In 2004 he got his Doctors Degree at the same university. From 1999 on he was research assistant, head of the Testing Centre according to German guidelines and at the end head of the department “Highway Construction Technology” at KIT. He has a strong bonding to asphalt material and a founded understanding of its technical, environmental and social issues. As head of the department he acquired and conducted research projects mainly in the field of asphalt pavements. Carsten Karcher started on 1 July 2013 as the Director of EAPA and dealt with Health, Safety and Environmental issues and Political items. On 1 January 2019 Dr. Karcher became Secretary General of EAPA.

ALEKSANDER LJUBIČ, Igmat (SLO)
At Igmat d.d. is in charge of managing the asphalt division. He is a member of the ZAS Technical Committee, a member of the Slovenian Chamber of Engineering. He is an auditor for Certification of Production Control (Asphalt, Bitumen and Bitumen Emulsions, Waterproofing Tapes) and a representative of Slovenia in the Technical Committee (TC 4.2 Road Pavements) for the PIARC World Road Organization asphalt pavements from 2008 to 2016. He is the co-author of the book Asphalt and Asphalt2.

STEFAN NEUMANN and Christian Benkö, Baumit (A)

Stefan Neumann has been working for Baumit since 2001, and has been responsible for lime in asphalt and dry mortar in road construction since 2010.
As an expert in road construction, he is on the road all over Europe to promote the benefits of hydrated lime in asphalt and the road construction method »semi-rigid pavements«.
He is also a member of various national standards committees in Austria.

MARKO OREŠKOVIĆ, University of Belgrade, Faculty of Civil Engineering (SRB)
is a research assistant in Pavement Research Laboratory at the University of Belgrade, Faculty of Civil Engineering in Serbia. He currently works on a doctoral dissertation from the field of asphalt recycling. His primary area of expertise is related to the use of alternative and recycled materials in asphalt mixtures and pavement design. He is active member of RILEM’s Technical Committee 279-WMR: Valorisation of Waste and Secondary Materials for Roads and also a member of the Task Group 5 “Degree of Binder Activity” of the RILEM TC 264-RAP: Asphalt Pavement Recycling. He has been a member of several scientific committees of national and international conferences.

He is founder, CEO and president at Robotina ltd. He holds a master’s degree in business administration from Clemson State University, USA and a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering. His research has always been focused on automation, robotics, artificial intelligence and cognitive technologies. He has been heading Robotina for last 29 years as the company head and has spearheaded the execution of multiple and diverse projects. Over 30 years of experience in different projects, i.e. industrial automation, building automation, energy efficiency projects in automation and others. He contributed in specification and design of most Robotina’s products including Smart Green technology platform with IoT controllers, real time cloud and Cognitive Optimization System (COS) which led to Robotina flagship solutions: smart spaces, smart energy and smart industry, which are connected by HIQ universe cloud. Speaker at many conferences, author of scientific articles, author and co-author of several patents, He has been awarded for exceptional achievements from Chamber of Commerce & Industry of Slovenia in 2011, which is the highest national recognition for achievements in the business community. By combining Internet of things, Artificial intelligence and Block-chain, his vision of smart, connected and better world, started to materialize and become reality.

FRANC PUNGERČIČ, Vianova (SLO)
He has been involved in the Slovenian motorway program for more than 20 years as a SCT employee, and as a commercial project manager in recent years. At the beginning of this millennium, he worked for the SCT in the Balkan and, among other things, managed the construction of the first section of the BiH highway. Following the bankruptcy of SCT in 2011, he headed the infrastructure, space and environment department in a larger municipality. Since 2013 at Vianova Slovenia d.o.o. he works in the field of technologies, processes and products in road construction and asphalt, based mainly on bitumen emulsions, where they are the leading provider in Slovenia.

MOJCA RAVNIKAR TURK, ZAG,

Marjan Tušar

Mojca Ravnikar Turk finished the Faculty of Civil and Geodetic Engineering in Ljubljana. Since 1988 she has worked at the Institute for Research in Materials and Structures, and later at ZAG Ljubljana. Currently holds the position of head of the “Laboratory for asphalt and bitumen products”. Her main areas of work, in addition to management and research work also include implementation of monitoring and analyzing the behavior of complex geotechnical structures and quality control of asphalt and earthworks.
Among the international projects she participated in COST Actions 345 and 348. She is participating or has led working groups in international projects STARs, BRoWSER, ASCAM and CONSISTEND.
Since April 2009 she works as the Vice-President of ‘Slovenian National Committee on Large Dams’ (SloCOLD).

ROLF REITER, CTS Bitumen (D)

He has been a part of the ARBIT and DAV committees.
Since 1996, he has been employed as the technical sales manager of BP Bitumen, where he has been involved in product development.
Since 2006, he has been employed as CEO of Nahe-Asphalt-Mischwerke in Kirn, in 2012 he joined CTS Bitumen as Sales Manager and Application Technology Manager.

MARJAN TUŠAR, KI

Miloš Kmet, (SLO)

In the last five years, Marjan Tušar has participated in several European and two Slovenian projects in the Laboratory for Chemometrics at the Institute of Chemistry.
During his work at ZAG, he participated in European research projects.
He is a member of WP 1 (Investigation and Conformity Assessment of Asphalt Mixtures) and of the TC 227 European Standardization (CEN) Technical Committee, an expert auditor for SA (Slovenian Accreditation) and for HAA (Croatian Accreditation Agency). He has co-authored 34 articles with IF (Impact Factor).

MARKUS SPIEGL, OMV (A)
He is Product Manager for Black Products at OMV in Austria, where he is responsible for business & product development and strategic supply and pricing for a wide range of oil derivative products – from bitumen to heavy fuel oil and marine fuel. He is with OMV since 2007. He studied civil engineering at the Technical University of Vienna. He is the chair of the Austrian standardization committee for bitumen and representing Austria at CEN level (TC 336). Further he is representing OMV in the board of GESTRATA and Eurobitume. Since April 2019 he is the President of Eurobitume.

Thilo Hilmer (D)

Michael P. Wistuba, Full-Professor for Road Engineering, has a Ph.D. in Civil Engineering from Vienna University of Technology. He is head of Braunschweig Pavement Engineering Centre in the Department of Architecture, Civil Engineering and Environmental Sciences at Technische Universität Braunschweig, Germany. He is author or co-author of 54 research reports, of 43 peer-reviewed papers in scientific journals and of 104 articles published in conference proceedings. His publications cover the fundamental mechanisms that control behaviour and durability of asphalt materials and pavement systems, the technical testing to address performance properties, the composition of asphalt mixtures considering various additives and re-using reclaimed asphalt, the design of highway and airport pavements, and the development of road management concepts to achieve durability.

MILAN ZAHALKA, Adfors Saint Gobain (CZ)
Directly after completing my civil engineering degree from the University of Technology Brno in Technology of Building Materials, I started my career with Saint-Gobain ADFORS in the Czech Republic as a Process Engineer. After 2 years, the opportunity for Saint-Gobain R&D center position in the USA became available and I was relocated to the US. I worked there 2 years as a Research Engineer focused on fiber glass reinforcement GlasGrid. I came back to Czech Republic one year ago and I took on position in the global Geotextile team as Product Manager responsible for Europe.

ALEŠ ŽNIDARIČ, ZAG (SLO)
He has a PhD in structural engineering from the Faculty of Civil and Geodetic Engineering in Ljubljana. He is currently the director of the Slovenian national building and civil engineering institute. He has 30 years of experience in the areas of traffic loads, damage assessment and bridge safety, and vehicle weighing while driving. He has been coordinator of three and has actively participated in more than 20 international research projects. He is a member of many national and international associations.
